bad haircut hat

 Bad Haircut Hat on Ravelry

This is the finished Bad Haircut Hat that I very briefly mentioned way back at the beginning of February!  I bought the Skinner Hat pattern (along with a couple others) when there was a 25% of sale, and I'm very glad I did.  The pattern and finished hat are great.

I made this goofy set of pictures to put up on Facebook after I had a good cry over the haircut.  It wasn't a bad cut on its own, it was just exactly the opposite of what I wanted.  I still don't like how my hair looks but I'm even more terrified of getting it cut than I was before.  It's hair, it grows, I'll live!

When I first bought this yarn I had meant to make another Veranda Tam with it, but after I cast on for the brim of the tam I realized what a perfect peacock blue this is and went on a mad search for the perfect peacock feather hat.  It was a tall order and I agonized for a while over patterns, even passing the Skinner Hat over in my first sweep of Ravelry.  It must have been meant to be since the pattern was even on sale when I finally bought it.

In the end I think I still lost this round (not liking the haircut months and months later) but at least I have a nice hat to show for it.

opaline

Opaline on Ravelry

After finishing this shawl in less than week I completely lost my knitting enthusiasm! I was so obsessed with the color changes and whether or not I could get the entire thing out of the single skein of MadelineTosh that I couldn't put it down.

There isn't very much more for me to say about it besides that it was in  fact made out of one skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina, though I had to leave out the middle lace repeat on the edge.  I'm much more in love with this shawl than the last one I knit (it was triangular).  I think the curved shape makes it much more wearable.

Also in this picture is the barest hint of the blue dye I put in the tips of my hair!  Maybe pictures later?

short cut

Shirt: thrifted Target; sweater: Gap, "adopted" from an ex; necklace: Cape Cod charm from a yardsale

Guess what I did?!

If you guessed "got sick of having so much hair on my head and cut it all off" you would be absolutely correct! I feel a lot better with shorter hair. Long hair is fun to play with but I only like how it looks when it's pulled back, which makes it look short. So, short hair it is!

This was taken sneakily at a potluck I was at this evening when everyone else was in a different room. I only wish that awesome shelf I'm standing next to was mine.

teeny tiny pigtails

The theme for today's post is "look what I can do!" Teeny tiny pigtails!

Right now I'm not so much growing my hair out as not bothering to cut it, and I'm having a lot of fun playing with it. I think I want to get it cut (around the beginning of the year I got my first professional haircut in years and was more impressed by it than by my buzzer haircuts), but I'm not sure if I want to let the front grow out. So I don't want to pay to get it cut, leave the front long, then decide that I want the front short as well. So I'm just not cutting it for now. And look what I can do!
